Old railway wagon previously used for carrying gunpowder sits in retirement at Goathland station on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway between Pickering and Grosmont. Explosives were moved in purpose built, metal bodied, wood lined vans like this one. In peace time 5 gunpowder vans could be included in a single train but in wartime entire trains of up to 60 such wagons might be made up of them.
